ROXO CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL RIBBON-CUTTING EVENT
USHERING IN NEW ERA OF STUDENT-LED CREATIVITY AND COMMUNITY IMPACT
FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 12, 2025) — Roxo, TCU’s student-run advertising and public relations agency, officially opened its new workspace with a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony that brought together around 150 guests including alumni, faculty, clients, and students to honor the agency’s continued growth and impact.
The event, held in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication, was kicked off by the presence of renowned journalist and author Bob Schieffer, who joined in commemorating the milestone. Attendees filled the new space as they toured the upgraded facility designed to support Roxo’s expanding client portfolio and student-led initiatives.
Roxo President Megan Yates joined Bob Schieffer, donor Roy Eaton, and Kristie Bunton, dean of the Bob Schieffer College of Communication, to cut the ribbon and celebrate the opening of the real-world corporate style space on the ground floor of Moudy South. During the event, guests had the opportunity to tour conference rooms, brainstorm stations, and view past client work.
“We’re so grateful to our donors Roy and Jeanine Eaton, and Bob Schieffer, for making our ribbon-cutting such a successful community event,” said Sarah Angle, faculty director of Roxo. “Our new space is already elevating the social impact we’re able to provide to the greater TCU community and the city of Fort Worth.”
“It was especially meaningful to launch Roxo’s work in our new space with Mr. and Mrs. Schieffer and Mr. and Mrs. Eaton,” said Russell Mack, faculty director of Roxo. “Mr. Schieffer’s professionalism and his extraordinary career as a journalist are the inspiration for everyone in our college, and Mr. Eaton’s generous support has helped fuel Roxo’s growth. Having them both there for our launch event was meaningful and historic for all of us.
“Very few colleges in the country have a gem like Roxo — a student-run ad and PR agency. After 12 years of growing, Roxo continues to gain momentum. There was so much energy at the launch event that it reminded us all of what a special treasure TCU has in Roxo and the students who bring it to life,” said Mack.
Over the past 10 years, Roxo has doubled in size, with now 45 students providing creative solutions and communication strategies to five or six different clients each semester. The new location gives the agency enhanced visibility, a collaborative environment, and the infrastructure needed to continue providing real-world experience to students while delivering strategic solutions to local for-profit and nonprofit businesses.
Founded through a corporate partnership with BNSF, Roxo operates as a social enterprise, reinvesting all revenue into student learning experiences. The agency has contributed approximately $65,000 in donated services to local nonprofit organizations, supporting causes such as mental health awareness and suicide prevention among young people.
The ribbon-cutting event marked a significant milestone for Roxo, reinforcing its role as a hands-on learning lab within the Bob Schieffer College of Communication and a model for student-centered, community-driven work at TCU and across the country.
